As you may know, a video recently emerged which appeared to show (definitely showed) One Direction's Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson smoking weed. And the internet erupted in a shitstorm. Now, Liam Payne (who incidentally was not in the video) has apologised on behalf of his bandmates.

"I love my boys and maybe things have gone a little sideways I apologise for that... We are only in our 20's we all do stupid things at this age," tweeted Liam on his personal Twitter page.

"We all have a lot of growing up to do in an extreme circumstance I'm not making excuse but it's fact we are gunna fall short somewhere. Hopefully we stand the test of time an get it right in the end I don't take this for granted and I'm extremely grateful to be here doing this," he continued.

"Thank you to everyone who has stuck with us through this just know that we love you guys for it and it means the world."

Fans, who just days before were hashtagging #CutForZouis (reminiscent to the previously trending #CutForBieber which emerged when video footage which showed Justin Bieber smoking what appeared to be weed came to light) were quick to come to Louis' defence, tweeting: "You are only human and humans make mistakes." Another tweeted "You're not the one to apologize liam and you shouldn't take the blame of what happened."

Professor Green, as always, had an interesting take on the whole thing saying all the singers were doing was having a "giggle" and it could be worse - they could have "stumbled out of a brothel with a needle hanging out of their groin".

"Let 'em live for f***'s sake," he concluded. We wholeheartedly echo that sentiment, although that whole brothel/needle anology is a bit intense.

Imagine every misdemenour we made ended up making headlines the world over. Gosh, we're breaking out in a rash just thinking about it.
