The New Ocean's 8 Trailer Has Us Feeling Very Excited For Summer

© Warner Bros

The biggest trailer yet has just dropped for the star-studded all-female Ocean’s Eleven spin-off, Ocean’s Eight, giving us a better idea of what we can expect from the anticipated heist movie before it arrives in cinemas in June.

Sandra Bullock stars as Debbie Ocean, the estranged sister of Danny Ocean, who was played by George Clooney in the Ocean’s trilogy (which was itself a re-boot of a ‘50s Rat Pack movie – got that?) As the trailer opens, she’s shown at a parole hearing, promising that she’s ready to swap being a career criminal for a more ‘simple life.’ It’s hardly a spoiler to reveal that that definitely isn’t the case. Debbie is itching to pull off one last job – a jewellery heist that centres around the biggest date in any A-lister’s calendar, the Met Gala.

Just as Danny Ocean’s team of co-conspirators read like a who’s who of Hollywood, this all-female re-boot has serious star power. Bullock is joined by Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina and Rihanna. So, that’s three Academy Award winners, one Academy Award nominee, a Golden Globe winner, an Emmy nominee and a multiple Grammy winner – not bad, you might say.

In new footage from the trailer, we're properly introduced to Hathaway as actress Daphne Kluger, the target of Debbie's heist scheme, who's dressed up in style befitting a true Princess of Genovia as she traverses the Met's infamous steps.

Also starring are James Corden, who plays an insurance broker, Damien Lewis, Debbie’s ex and the heist’s main target and Matt Damon, who’ll reprise his role as Linus Cardwell from the original trilogy. With the Met Gala playing an integral part in the film’s events, a whole host of celebrity cameos have been lined up, too. It’s already been confirmed that Kim Kardashian West, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Zayn Malik, Katie Holmes, Serena Williams, Adriana Lima, Derek Blasberg and even Anna Wintour herself will appear at the film’s mocked-up Met Ball. Who said Vogue's famous ice queen didn't have a sense of humour?
