Most of us would love a second season of Normal People, even if we’re worried it would never live up to the first. And now after the success of the first series - with everyone from Kourtney Kardashian to Katy Perry{
‘We’ve talked about the possibility of how interesting it would be to check back in with them, but apart from just general musings and over a drink, no, there have been no concrete discussions about what it would be like,’ he told Deadline.
(Spoiler alert in case you haven’t already binged the whole thing in lockdown.) The first series was adapted from Sally Rooney's bestselling novel, and ends with our hearts breaking when Marianne encourages Connell to accept a place on a writing course in New York, even though she won’t go with him.
‘As Sally says, the book stops where it stops because it feels right,’ he added.
But regardless, it sounds like there would be a lot of drama in season two. ‘But, I have a sneaking thing in the back of my head that if everybody was willing, and if the stars aligned, I’d love to revisit them in five years and find out what happened, where they are,' he added. 'Is somebody a father or a mother? What relationships are they in that then get disrupted by their meeting again?'
Lenny continued by saying that it would be weird to start another series which would follow Connell in New York. ‘But it would be really strange to pick that up eight weeks later with him traveling to New York, I think,' he said. 'There needs to be time.’
Of course, this exciting news comes after Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal reunited for Ireland’s Comic Relief, where they went to confession, which was conveniently held by Fleabag’s Hot Priest Andrew Scott.
