Nobody Wants To Collaborate With Kelly Clarkson :-(

WE'LL COLLABORATE WITH YOU, KELLY.

On Nick Grimshaw’s Radio 1 show earlier this week, Kelly Clarkson (AKA Creator Of Album Breakaway AKA The Soundtrack To Our Teens) said that she wanted to collaborate with loads of artists for her upcoming record, but a lot of them said no. Which makes us really sad, because we have a real soft spot for Kelly.

‘I honestly would collaborate with a lot of people, but everyone usually says no. I’m not kidding you,’ she said on the show. ‘I have legitimately asked several people who I’m not going to call out. And that’s cool, but I don’t know.’

An evil part of us – who remembers listening to Where Is Your Heart seven hundred times after our first break up – wants her to name and shame, but that would be childish. And, as already mentioned, evil. Excitingly, though, John Legend said yes, because he is a great and good man and probably loved *Since U Been Gone *as much as we did.

‘I got John Legend to say yes, so that’s cool. I ask good people, I don’t want to sing with crap people, so I ask people who are great vocalists, but I’m not going to point out anyone. I have asked several people, but sometimes I feel like I have the plague, or leprosy, they’re like, if I get too close... I don’t know.’

And, while several people rejected poor Kelly, Sia only bloody agreed to write a couple of tracks for the record, after the two had some back and forth on Twitter. So actually, Kelly, don’t be so down on yourself because both of these people are pretty excellent.

‘I love her. She writes such rangey songs, and that’s how I love singing,’ Kelly continued. ‘We have tweeted back and forth and I was like, “Write me something, girl! You’re so good!” but that was years ago. We worked with the same producers so we kind of have mutual friends and the next single was the last one recorded for this album, and they had just written it and they were like, “We think you could nail this.”’

Apparently, one of Sia’s songs for Kelly is due to be the next single, so listen out for that. And we can’t wait to hear the next record because Kelly is great and we’d totally collaborate with her, except none of us can sing.
