Nicole Kidman Is Unrecognisable As She Transforms For New Film

We’ve got a first look at Nicole Kidman’s next film – a film called Destroyer where she plays LAPD police officer Erin Bell who went undercover with a gang who lived in the California desert in her 20s, and is still dealing with what took place there.

With a mop of brown hair, no makeup and two baggy jumpers – it’s a far cry from the Hollywood glamour we’re so used to seeing from Kidman.

‘We always knew that what we wanted her to look like was a real middle-aged woman with a past that she wears on her face,’ director Karyn Kusama told Vanity Fair. ‘With sun damage and sleep deprivation and stress and rage, just in her whole physical body.’

And it seems like Kidman was on board with the whole no makeup aspect of the role.

‘Ironically, she also hates being in the makeup chair,’ Kusama said. ‘She just wants to be on set working. So we had to make it as short an application as possible.’

Some think she’s angling for an Oscar nomination with this new role – the last time she won an Oscar she had undergone another drastic transformation, and donned a prosthetic nose to play Virginia Woolf in The Hours. She won Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role for that role in 2003, and has been nominated twice since then – for Rabbit Hole in 2011, and Lion in 2017.

We will have to wait until December to see just how different Kidman looks in Destroyer when it’s out in cinemas.

Blanca Blanco caused controversy by wearing a red dress to the Golden Globes when everyone else sported black in support of Time's Up. We're feeling her Oscars outfit way more, tbh.
