Nicola Coughlan And Jonathan Van Ness Are Celebrity Friendship Goals

The two stars are close pals.

Nicola Coughlan became a bonafide comedy star thanks to her scene-stealing performance in Channel 4 sitcom Derry Girls, but in recent weeks, she's gone truly global. Her performance in Bridgerton, in which she plays Penelope Featherington, was seen by more than 63 million people worldwide in its first fortnight on Netflix. No big deal. But if she's ever in need of advice on how to deal with international fame, she can turn to close friend Jonathan Van Ness.

Jonathan is most famous for being one of the Fab Five on Netflix's Queer Eye.

They became friends via social media, with Nicola telling Bustle that 'she printed his face on a jumper and posted a picture of it. I just figured if I could take a little bit of his energy onto set with me I would get up and be ready for the day and feel happy even if it was 4 a.m. So I had this hoodie made, and he saw it on Instagram and messaged me like, "Girl, I love you!"'

Since then, they have been close friends. Nicola was a guest on Jonathan's podcast, Getting Curious, and they both campaigned for LGBTQ and women's reproductive rights in Ireland. When Jonathan was in town in 2019 for work, Nicola naturally made a beeline, calling him her 'soul sister.' Jonathan even visited Nicola on the set of Bridgerton.
