Nick Jonas has dropped his squeaky clean image but no-body's lost their shit like they did with Miley. What gives?

This morning, we were treated to Nick Jonas’s throwback to Mark Wahlberg’s first fashion shoot, the Calvin Klein one where he grabs his wang through his prized gleaming white boxers. And overall, it’s being lauded as ‘sexy’.

‘Nick Jonas Grabs Himself & Flaunts Butt In Sexy New Shoot’ the headlines scream. ‘Shirtless Nick Jonas Shows Off His Hot Body – You’ve Gotta See This New Pic!’

And it’s not as if he doesn’t want to be sexy and has been manoeuvred into this shoot by someone else, as he proudly claimed his upcoming album is meant to be sexy.

He told Flaunt: ‘I really try to be aware of the purpose of each song. There are songs on my record that I want people to have sex to, and songs people can listen to when they’re pissed off. And I think that’s the beautiful thing about music.’

Just in case The Jonas Brothers thing passed you by, they were huge in America in the noughties as a Christian teen rock band. They got a bit of attention over here, too, but maybe not as much as they would have done if they’d not done bizarro things like wearing purity rings and swearing to remain virgins (we seem to prefer shaggy pop stars, like Robbie Williams and Harry Styles).

Every time any other teen star goes all-grown-up, finally announcing that they want to shirk off their squeaky-clean past to become sexual adults, the ‘role model thing’, comes up. It happened to Rihanna, Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera… and so on. But with Nick? It’s nowhere to be seen.

Because apparently, if you’re a boy, you don’t have to be a role model. Whereas Miley’s twerking bum got everyone from parents’ groups to religious groups to teachers to even David Cameron saying she’s a bad role model, the biggest response Nick’s sexy shoot is going to get is a ‘Ooh, he’s FIT!’

There are so many intricate reasons – we could fill a book – why Nick’s allowed to be cheeky like this, but Miley was never allowed to (and still isn’t allowed to) without people getting in a huff. But what it all boils down to, is that Miley is a girl, and Nick is a boy. And apparently, when you’re a boy, you can do what you like.

We’re not saying he needs to be slated for what he’s done, but if he can get away with it, Miley should be able to as well.
