Cheryl Cole has just confirmed on Twitter that Nick Grimshaw and Rita Ora have been signed as X Factor judges, replacing Louis Walsh and Mel B.
Radio 1 DJ Grimmers reportedly met up with Simon Cowell to go over the details of his contract on Sunday.
Speaking to The Sun, Simon Cowell explained his reasons for wanting to snap up the new talent: ‘Nick loves artists and music, that’s what I love about him. I like the fact he’s from the North so he represents them.’
Rita Ora was apparently offered £1.5m to leave rival show The Voice, which she joined as a mentor last year. She is quoted as saying having two shows fighting over her made her ‘feel special’, but it looks like the lure of X Factor won out!
It’s also reported that Kiss FM breakfast show hosts Rickie Haywood-Williams and Melvin Odoom have been given the job of fronting spin-off show The Xtra Factor, and that The Saturdays’ Rochelle Humes could be joining them.
