Nicholas Hoult Breaks His Silence On The Jennifer Lawrence Nudes In V Awkward Interview

I mean, you think he'd be able to come up with something slightly more insightful.

Hoult

After ‘The Fappening’ last month when four waves of nude pics were leaked over the internet, Nicholas Hoult was asked about the images of his ex-girlfriend, Jennifer Lawrence. And dealt with it quite badly.

They broke up after four years of working a long-distance relationship, and when Nicholas went on the Good Day New York show to promote his new film, *The Young Ones, *he was invariably asked about the leaked pictures. ‘It’s shocking that things like this happen in the world,’ he said. ‘It’s a shame.’

Aaaaand, that was all. Of course, it’s not easy to talk about your ex so soon after the break-up – especially considering she’s rumoured to have moved on almost immediately to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin – but you’d think his people would have been expecting the question and would have at least briefed him on something interesting to say. More interesting than ‘It’s a shame.’

He looks almost pissed off to be asked, shifts in his seat and speaks while, erm, smiling – which is an incredibly weird reaction. And makes for awkward viewing.

In saying that, Nicholas was there to promote a new film, and most of the coverage of that interview hasn’t even namechecked the film – instead focussing solely on his one sentence regarding J-Law. Which is probably a bit annoying for him, and he was probably hoping to forget about it all considering she’s, well, an ex.

What’s annoying for us, though, is the fact that his ex-girlfriend pretty much had to give a tell-all critique of the events of the last month, which she did in Vanity Fair, whereas he’s been able to pretty much stay silent, despite the fact that he’s just as involved in the leaked pictures as anyone. Because they were intended for him.

‘The law needs to be changed, and we need to change. That’s why these websites are responsible,’ Jennifer Lawrence told Vanity Fair in the exclusive interview out soon. ‘Just the fact that somebody can be sexually exploited and violated, and the first thought that crosses somebody’s mind is to make a profit from it. It’s so beyond me. I just can’t imagine being that detached from humanity. I can’t imagine being that thoughtless and careless and so empty inside.’

She went on to talk about Nicholas: ‘I was in a loving, healthy, great relationship for four years. It was long distance, and either your boyfriend is going to look at porn or he’s going to look at you.’

Surely someone should have told Nicholas that it’d, at the very least, be a solid PR move to say something a bit thoughtful considering what an awful time his ex is having.

Interesting factoid, though: *The Young Ones *is directed by Jake Paltrow. And yes, that is Gwyneth Paltrow’s brother – the ex of Jennifer Lawrence’s rumoured new beau Chris Martin. Connections, eh?
