The trailer was unveiled at Comic-Con over the weekend, with the film slated for release in 2017. Gal was joined by co-stars Chris Pine and Connie Nielsen to launch the clip, which sees Wonder Woman discovering Chris Pine’s character, an American pilot, washed up on the shores of an island paradise.

Later, announcing the news on Twitter, Gal called the role “a dream come true”, before telling fans she “can’t express how excited how I am to see my journey come to life!”
She went on to tell journalists that the character’s supporting role in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice was just the beginning of the road for Wonder Woman. “Many times, it felt like we got signs from the universe. It felt like we were just a vessel for a greater story that we need to share with everyone… it felt like, now is the time”.
Gal’s Wonder Woman is the latest in a series of female-led superheroines grabbing the limelight – over the weekend it was also announced that Margot Robbie’s popular Suicide Squad character Harley Quinn will star in her own spin-off film and it follows the news that Brie Larson will play Captain Marvel in the studio’s first ever female-led superhero movie.
