You know the song Pretty Girls, by Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea? Well, it’s not done as well as Iggy’s previous songs, only getting to number 29 in the Billboard Hot 100 and 16 in the UK.

A fan wanted to know why it did so badly, so tweeted Iggy asking about it. Iggy replied, but didn’t hold back, seeming to blame Britney Spears for not promoting it enough for it to gain enough hype for people to want to download or stream it:

But after a news article (tweeted at Iggy) from a gossip site suggested this was ‘serious shade’, Iggy responded:

Then, when a fan had a go, Iggy replied:

Britney then apparently responded by tweeting about how grateful she is for her own gigs (Iggy’s tour has been cancelled) then adding a #YouWantAPieceOfMe hashtag:

But inbetween all these tweets and snidey comments and supposed shade, perhaps both of the musicians are missing the reason why Pretty Girls did so badly. One, it’s really braggy, showing off about how pretty they both are.

At least Fancy had a core of irony running through it because, well, getting drunk on the mini bar is hardly fancy when you take into account ‘fancy’ is what an old Southern woman says about Sunday school dress. Two, it’s just so annoying! Annoying and catchy, but not annoyingly catchy. There’s a big difference…

If there’s anyone to fall out over this song’s flop, it’s not each other, it’s the bigwigs who signed off 2015’s Crazy Frog.
