Just in case, in all the excitement of the Oscars ceremony, you had forgotten that a total of zero women were nominated for the Best Director category (yep, just like the BAFTAs...), Natalie Portman is here to remind you.
Taking aim at the Academy, the actress, wearing Dior, had the surnames of women snubbed for the category embroidered on her cape, such as Little Women director Greta Gerwig. LA Times journalist Amy Kaufman shared the moment on Twitter and asked Natalie about her subtle, but not-so-subtle, outfit choice. Natalie said: 'I wanted to recognise the women who were not recognised for their incredible work this year in my subtle way.'
What. A. Queen.
Natalie isn't the only one to make a statement on the red carpet so far, Julia Butters - the 10-year-old child star from Once Upon A Time In Hollywood - made a sandwich her accessory for the big night. (Opening her pink clutch bag, the actress told reporters that she wasn't a fan of the food being served before or after the ceremony.) And Olivia Colman has also been spotted with a brand new platinum blonde hairstyle, telling everyone that last year's Oscar win was 'the best night of my husband's life.'
