Following the rumours that Taylor Swift is to appear on Girls, Lena Dunham was spotted outside her New York apartment with a massive script in her hands – and new rumours have hotted up that pal-of-Taylor, Cara Delevingne, is to feature in the fourth series of the hit HBO drama. ‘Taylor told Lena that Cara is a huge fan of Girls. Lena immediately agreed because Cara is her girl crush,' reported Grazia. 'She has been in touch with Cara’s people already to discuss the idea.'
It really wouldn’t be that weird if Cara did sign up to the show. She has previously said that she has her sights set on acting, saying, ‘Modelling is a great job, and I appreciate everything it has brought me, but it’s not my passion. As far back as I can remember I’ve wanted to act.’ And she had a cameo in 2012’s Anna Karenina and has filmed Kids In Love and The Face Of An Angel, the Amanda Knox biopic.
But, if the heavy-browed model does appear on Girls, how is she going to interact with all of the characters? Here's where we muse on that.
1. She probably won’t be Jessa’s mate
With floaty blonde hair, a sort of posh-hippy vibe, hand tattoos and that British thing going on, Cara could very well play one of Jessa’s sisters, or a younger family friend who’s been sent by her parents to New York to live with Jessa after playing up at home. But there lies the problem. If your kid is in trouble, why on earth would you send her to go be looked after by Jessa? We’re prone to think that Cara’s character wouldn't actually be friends with Jessa, because they’d be so similar they’d just fall out.
2. Shoshanna and her will bond over Instagram
We haven’t seen much of Shoshanna’s online presence past the time her and Ray fought over her love of emoji, but we know that, just like Cara, she’d be fond of a meticulously cropped, maybe a bit pixelated from all the re-gramming aphorism against a picture of a sunset or of two cute animals. The Insty-ed picture of two lions along with the caption 'keep people in your life that truly love you, motivate you, encourage you, inspire you, enhance you, and make you happy' that Cara uploaded the other week – think about it, it’s SO Shoshanna. How would they meet? Well, spoiler beware, they'd blatantly both be re-taking a year at university.
3. Marnie’s about to get upstaged
After basically every scene with Marnie in it having gone musical, as if Lena is trying to borrow viewers from Glee, maybe Cara is a girl who goes head-to-head with Marnie at one of her open mic nights. After all, the abundantly talented Cara has also got some singing chops on her, and if Taylor joins her on guitar, it could be a way of wedging both of them into one episode.
4. No one knows what the fuck Hannah will make of her
Because, if the past series of Girls has taught us, no one really knows what’s going on in Hannah’s head at any one time, apart from the fact that, every time you really expect her to be upset, she just isn’t. So maybe Cara could play the straw who breaks the camel’s back, the intern she works with who drives her to the point of actually getting riled about something. Or Adam's new girlfriend, or a reality star debutante Lena is tasked with ghostwriting the autobiography of.
Regardless, if we can think up this many ideas for Cara's involvement in the show, just imagine how many Lena's going to get through. We're totally looking forward to it.
