In a time where we’re in desperate need of some good news, here’s the injection of positivity you need to hear today after the news earlier this year that Mummy Pig from Peppa Pig was pregnant- Peppa Pig’s baby sister has been born!
Her new sibling - a baby sister called Evie - has officially arrived. For over two decades, Peppa, her little brother George, Mummy Pig, and Daddy Pig have been a family of four, but this new addition to the show marks a big change. Baby Evie - whose gender was exclusively revealed by Grazia last month was named after Mummy Pig’s aunt, and she safely delivered the piglet on the morning of Tuesday, 20th May.
The news was announced by Richard Madeley on Good Morning Britain, who revealed, ‘Over 60 million of you on TikTok have been following Mummy Pig and the rest of the pig family while they get ready to welcome their new addition.
‘It's a beautiful thing, like I said, Daddy Pig has just shared these pictures with me of Peppa's brand new baby sister Evie named after Mummy Pig's Aunt Evie, she was born at 5:34am this morning, thankfully, just in time to watch her first ever Good Morning Britain.’
Fans of the show can expect to meet the new baby on screen this autumn, but for those who can’t wait, the creators of the show have also announced that an hour-long special called Peppa Meets The Baby will be released in theatres on 30 May.
Grazia previously did an exclusive gender reveal shoot and interview back in April when the world learned that Peppa and George would be having a sibling. In the interview, she admitted that juggling life, work, and two little ones is made easier by Daddy Pig's input. We also asked the pressing question on everyone’s mind- how, in this cost-of-living crisis, can Mummy Pig afford to have a third piglet?
‘Well, that is a good question,’ she answered. ‘I won’t say it hasn’t been a concern for us – babies are expensive, and times are already quite tight. We still have lots of Peppa and George’s pre-loved baby things for the new little one to use, so that helps with some of the costs – and it’s very good for the planet, too!’
She added, ‘Granny and Grandpa Pig have already been scheduling in the days when they want to help look after the new arrival, and of course Peppa and George will still be at playgroup. Not to mention how many people have offered to babysit, as well. It takes a village to raise a little one – but luckily that’s exactly what we have.’
Peppa and her brother George are said to be thrilled by the arrival of their new baby sister, while Mummy and Daddy Pig are ‘looking forward to lots of happy snorts and sleepless nights.’
