Chrissy Teigen and John Legend and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge should take note. If, like these celebrity couples, you’re expecting a new arrival in the next 12 months, but haven’t quite settled upon the perfect name, you might want to pay attention to a new list (released by parenting site Babygaga) of predictions for 2018’s most popular baby names.
Classic choices for girls such as Emma, Charlotte (possibly a nod to the fourth in line to the throne) and Ellie are among the favourites for the coming year, while the list for boys sees the emergence of some more unusual options: Atticus, Hunter and Kai are all pegged as potentially popular by the site (though – spoiler alert – we imagine William and Kate won’t be opting for any of those…) Surprisingly, Olivia, which has so far proved to be the most popular name for baby girls born in 2017, does not make an appearance in the predictions. Of course, at this stage the list is mere speculation, but that doesn’t make us any less intrigued by the choices.
Below are Babygaga's predictions for boys; scroll further down for a gallery of the predictions for girls...
