‘I thought about asking the interviewer about his absolute fave sex position after that last question - but then I remembered how wildly invasive, strange and inappropriate that would be.’

One of the realities of being a celebrity is that, whether you like it or not, you will probably have to be interviewed – again and again. Plenty of the time, the questions are about innocuous things the A-lister wants to promote - a film, book, TV show, album or fashion collection. But, sometimes journalists cross the line, and questions can be become inappropriate and/or a total violation of privacy.

PopstarTroye Sivanwas recently subjected to what reads to be an excruciating interview, and is hitting back after being questioned about his sex life. At the end of an interview – in Q&A format, with Express an LGBTQ+ magazine in New Zealand, the openly gay singer was asked if he was ‘top or bottom?.’

Unsurprisingly, Sivan passed on the question, telling the mag he was 'definitely' not answering it. After fans started circulating the interview on social media, he later tweeted about how bizarre he found the entirely inappropriate question.

‘I thought about asking the interviewer about his absolute fave sex position after that last question,' he tweeted. 'But then I remembered how wildly invasive, strange and inappropriate that would be. Didn’t stop him though!’

Obviously, this is not the first - and won't be the last - time celebrities have been asked painfully inappropriate questions in an interview.

Here are some of the most awkward interviews (which have all luckily/unluckily been caught on camera).

This infamous Cara Delevingne video wins the award for one of the most awkward interviews of all time

OMG, who can forget this live interview on Good Day Sacramento? Not only did the interviewer kick off by callingCara ‘{ =nofollow}Carla’ and start the by asking if she’d read _Paper Towns (_the film she was promoting) but it somehow got even worse, as the model-slash-actress was later told she should maybe drink a Red Bull. Ouch.

This interview with Taylor Swift wins no awards

Taylor Swift being told by a presenter that she was going to walk home with a lot of men -instead of trophies - at the Grammys in 2015 is just as excruciating as you'd expect.

Quentin Tarantino rejects a reporter's 'hypothesis'

At a Once Upon A Time In Hollywood Q&A, a female journalist asked director Quentin Tarantino about Margot Robbie's lack of lines in the film. Tarantino wasn't having it. He snapped back - and when the journalist pressed him, he spat, ‘Well, I just reject your hypothesis.’

Robert Pattinson wasn't up for talking about 'Robsten'

Publicists sometimes sit in on interviews - but, in this very awkward chat between Robert Pattinson and Ryan Seacrest, the publicist intervened when he was asked about Kristen Stewart. (That's even though the Twilight couple were dating at the time.) Awkward.

Mila Kunis defends Justin Timberlake - in Russian

At a press conference for Friends With Benefits, Mila Kunis fiercely defended Justin Timberlake - in Russian. After a reporter asked why pop superstar Justin Timberlake decided to move into movies, she incredulously asked, ‘Well, what you would you rather have him do?' before she then sassily asked why the reporter was at the press conference.

Helen Mirren not taking sexism from Michael Parkinson in 1975

Forty years later, and Michael Parkinson still won’t apologize for this interview in 1975, where he introduced Helen Mirren as the 'sex queen' of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Ugh. Michael, who was then in his 30s, went on to tell her that she was an ‘in quotes, a serious actress’ and asked if her ‘equipment’ undermined her credibility. She hit back with, 'Serious actresses can't have big bosoms, is that what you mean?'
