Monica Lewinsky, the young woman who famously had an affair with US president Bill Clinton in the '90s, has written about the whole thing for *Vanity Fair – *and included a message for Beyoncé.
Ae we really still talking about that whole Clinton affair? Apparently, yes. And really, how can it die? Lewinsky/that cigar/the soiled blue dress is still regularly referenced in popular culture – something that’s not lost on the now 40-year-old former intern.
For example, Beyoncé recently immortalised the famous affair in her song Partition. The lyrics are as follows: He popped all my buttons and he ripped my blouse/He Monica Lewinski'd all on my gown. But in terms of actual grammar, Bey got it very wrong, says Ms Lewinsky.
'Thanks, Beyoncé, but if we’re verbing, I think you meant "Bill Clinton’d all on my gown" not "Monica Lewinsky’d," she explains in the piece. Fair point, Monica.
She also says she deeply regrets the affair and that ‘it’s time to burn the beret and bury the blue dress'. Here's the thing, though, Monica – if you'd just burned that jizz-stained blue dress all those years ago, maybe we wouldn't still be talking about it today.
