With Molly-Mae Hague’s new documentary finally landing on Amazon Prime, fans are seeing a whole new side to the influencer’s life – including that of her best friend and sister, Zoe Rae.
In the documentary, Zoe is seen opening up about her relationship with Molly-Mae’s ex fiancé Tommy Fury – who recently revealed that his alcohol addiction was responsible for the breakdown of his relationship. Turns out, overprotective big sis Zoe hasn’t always been the biggest fan of her sister’s beau…
‘Mine and Tommy’s relationship was very, very turbulent,’ she admits. ‘We definitely butted heads a fair few times about him going out and me being overprotective with Molly. He was great with Bambi but he wasn’t at the time being a great partner, and I think that’s what she potentially couldn’t see.’
Zoe also admitted how she always knew her little sister was destined for big things – saying, ‘From a young age, even before Love Island, I knew she was going to be successful. We joked in my family about it and when she was 10 years old, we said, “You’re going to be famous one day.” There’s no stopping her, she’s going to do what she wants to do, and I’m so proud of her.’
As Molly-Mae: Behind It All lands on Amazon Prime, here’s everything to know about the star’s big sister Zoe Rae – including her surprising past career.
Who is Zoe Rae?
Zoe Rae (formerly Zoe Hague) is the older sister of Molly-Mae Hague. At 28 years old, she is three years older than 25-year-old Molly-Mae – with the two sharing a close bond.
The documentary features videos of the pair growing up, with Molly-Mae describing them as ‘definitely your typical sisters – if anyone could fight, it was me and Zoe. Some of the fights we’ve had over the years were intense.’
What does Zoe Rae do?
With a loyal following of over 500,000 followers on Instagram, Zoe is a health and fitness influencer. A YouTuber like her younger sister, Zoe’s channel features vlogs of her training in the gym and going for runs. Previously, she’s been on the cover of Women’s Fitness.
As well as her own influencing platform, Zoe previously followed in Molly-Mae’s footsteps by signing a five-figure deal with Pretty Little Thing in 2023 – where Molly previously worked as Creative Director.
Was Zoe Rae in the Army?
When Molly-Mae was entering the Love Island villa in 2019, her sister Zoe was actually in the Army Medical Corp. The Army Medical Corp is described as a 'non-combatant' branch of the British Military, that focuses on 'providing medical care to soldiers, wherever they are deployed.' Signing up to the military when she was just 22 years old, Zoe Rae later left in 2023 – embarking on a career in influencing instead.
Opening up on her YouTube channel about leaving the Army, Zoe said, ‘[Joining the military] wasn’t something I planned on doing or something I wanted to do while at school. I wouldn’t say I’ve been overly lucky. I’ve been in the army for five years but the regiment I was at wasn’t for me… I’ve experienced so much that you wouldn’t in a normal job. I just wish for me it’d gone differently.’
After Molly-Mae’s Love Island success, Zoe also revealed how her younger sister offered her the chance to work with her – something she doesn’t always take up. In 2023, Zoe explained, ‘She’s offered me to help with Filter [her tanning brand]. She’s said she’ll pay me a monthly wage, but I can’t. It’s not me. I need to be out and about doing something.’
‘I’m very lucky she does and she’s always offering me things, which I’m super grateful for.’
Is Zoe Rae married?
It was while serving in the British Army Medical Corps that Zoe met her now-husband, Danny Rae. Danny describes himself as a ‘Army Physical Training Instructor’ on his Instagram, with the couple often partaking in various sporting events together.
The sporty couple got engaged at the top of a mountain back in 2022, before tying the knot during a lakeside wedding last year – a wedding which fans saw plenty of on Molly-Mae’s social media.
What has Zoe Rae said about Tommy Fury?
Inevitably, Tommy Fury is a big part of Molly-Mae’s documentary. After welcoming daughter Bambi and getting engaged, Love Island’s golden couple shockingly called it quits last year – with Tommy admitting that his issues with alcohol stopped him from being ‘the partner I wanted to be.’
In her series, Molly-Mae reveals that her sister is the one member of her family who knows the ins and outs of her relatiomship with the boxer. ‘I think Zoe really struggles with Tommy and I the most out of anyone in my family, because she has heard it all now, and I have really shared it all with her, so she’s so invested and sometimes cares a little bit too much,’ she explains.
In another scene, Molly-Mae and Zoe are seen talking in a car – with the Maebe founder showing her big sister of her and Tommy’s messages since their breakup. ‘You have to go through it and it’s hell, and that’s what makes me sad,’ Zoe says. ‘You want to be with 50% of Tommy, but you don’t want to be with the other 50% of him.’
‘The last two months you’ve been happier and nicer to be around, because you’ve not got the stressors that come along with being with him.’
