Miley Cyrus’ Tweets Denying Cheating On Liam Hemsworth Prove That Women In The Public Eye Don’t Have To Be Role Models

Miley Cyrus Writing on Twitter yesterday, the 26-year-old said there were ‘no secrets to uncover’ and that she was ‘committed’ to the 29-year-old Australian while she was with him.

But, in order to make her point, the singer was brutally honest, admitting an array of decisions (which some would probably call mistakes) that she made while growing up in the public eye, including cheating in previous relationships and how she ‘got kicked off Hotel Transylvania for buying Liam a penis cake for his birthday and licking it.’

She started the thread by saying, ‘I can accept that the life I’ve chosen means I must live completely open and transparent with my fans who I love, and the public, 100% of the time. What I cannot accept is being told I’m lying to cover up a crime I haven’t committed. I have nothing to hide.’

The star also said: ‘there are probably more nudes of me on the internet than maybe any woman in history.’ To finish the thread, Miley stated that she ‘isn’t perfect’ and that she doesn’t want to be, either - and in an age where most of us seem to be striving for a life that looks perfect on Instagram, that’s incredibly refreshing to hear.

In sharing her truth, so boldly on the internet, Miley has demonstrated how famous women don’t have to succumb to the pressure of being role models.

Despite their fame and fortune, celebrities are subject to the same old shit as the rest of us. All of us make questionable decisions when we’re young - and growing up in the public eye, with paparazzi lenses constantly on you, only amplifies that.

The best thing about last night's Twitter thread was that Miley didn’t apologise for her past, as Madonna said, ‘Thank GOD!! You are human! A woman who has lived. No need to apologize!!’
