Miley Cyrus is going to be in Black Mirror, really soon. Yep, for season five, real life pop star Miley (Andrew Scott aka The Hot Priest from Fleabag aka Andrew Scott and Endgame’s Antony Mackie are also coming along for the ride) have been recruited by co-creators Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones to get us questioning our relationships with technology. Very topical.

Miley will be playing a pop star called Ashley O, who seemingly has the perfect life and lives in Malibu (just like Miley), but has hidden struggles behind closed doors.

Speaking at Radio 1 Big Weekend, the Nothing Breaks Like A Heart singer revealed more about her upcoming episodes, saying they are 'outrageously out there and dark, just like the music industry', and that they plot has similarities to her path to fame but isn’t 'her story'.

'My family is what's kept me the way that I am and kept me still loving music,' she said, noting that Ashley’s family definitely isn’t as supportive as hers has been.

Miley also revealed that she immediately said yes to the show as she was a huge fan and says that creators Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones did a 'really deep' dive into her own experiences.

Speaking about recruiting the superstar for the show, producer Annabel Jones exclusively told Grazia that Miley jumped at the role when they asked her.

'It turned out that she had heard of the show and not only that, but she was a fan and the script really spoke to her,’ Annabel said.

'And being in that industry, she had a lot of thoughts on it that we sort of reversed into the script [so that it felt] all the more credible.'
