Just over a month after she welcomed her first child, Made in Chelsea’s Maeva D’Ascanio has already been confronted with the internet ‘parent police’ who have criticised her decision to isolate away from her little one when she developed Covid.

Maeva – who welcomed her son, Beau Christian Taylor, on 30 November with her fiancé James Taylor – was forced to defend her actions when she revealed that she had tested positive for the virus and had sent her five-week-old son to stay with her mother-in-law.

After she shared a post revealing the information saying, 'It's really hard to say. Some people say that babies can catch Covid, some say babies cannot catch Covid but, just in case, I prefer him to be there and be safe', the 30-year-old received several negative comments including one which stated, 'Your baby should never have been away from you so new born and disgusting he’s not back! You’re clearly well.'

Famously not one to keep her opinions to herself on MIC, Maeva hit back replying, 'What the hell [do] you know about my life if I’m well or not you idiot! You’re right it would have been better to keep my baby close to me sick with covid and coughing in his face!!! If you don’t know how to take care of your child, well I do!'

Luckily several of Maeva’s Instagram followers were quick to jump to her defence with one commenting, 'Regardless [of] what decision she made and whether you agree or not, she made it, she is his mother and she has done what she thought was best. People need to respect that and stop with the vile comments. What is wrong with people honestly?'

Another added, 'Motherhood is hard enough without people picking at you. She clearly did what was best for her new-born. Separation anxiety is horrid.'
