Michelle Obama made a guest appearance on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday to reflect on her past eight years as First Lady at the White House.

Michelle came out to a rapturous applause from the audience, as Stephen waited for the standing ovation to settle before exclaiming, ‘I know a few people from Washington DC and not all of them get that kind of reception.’

But the First Lady is of course noted as being a cool mum, from singing Beyoncé’s Single Ladies on Carpool Karaoke to describing her husband Barack Obama as ‘swaggerlicious’ on the Oprah Winfrey Show. Not to mention her cameo in the new series of Gilmore Girls

But Michelle further proved her infectious personality in her recent interview with Stephen.

The First Lady firstly spoke about her final days in the White House and admitted that she finds herself ‘choking up’ at the prospect of having to leave, with the US Election just months away.

She then went on to reveal how she’s already made her children, Malia and Sasha, start packing up their rooms as she laughed, ‘If you don’t pack it, I’ll throw it out (or put it on eBay)’.

And of course having brought up her children in the White House alongside husband and President of the United States Barack Obama, must have enabled the First Lady to enjoy some pretty extraordinary experiences.

But when Stephen asked Michelle what we all want to know, ‘Can you think of any ‘Oh My God’ moments' as First Lady? What came next wasn’t what we were expecting...

‘I had a sleepover at Buckingham Palace,’ she boasted, to which the audience cooed in awe.

But before you conjure up images of Michelle and the Queen donning PJ’s and sipping hot chocolate, when asked by Stephen if she painted her nails with the Queen, she unfortunately said no.

She did however, share some fast food with the Royals as she revealed, ‘I do remember ordering french fries at the Palace and they were some good fries. I love french fries, I am a big french fry fanatic that’s why I have to have organic vegetables to balance it out for sure. It would get ugly…’
