Despite the fact this year's Brits have been incredibly different due to coronavirus restrictions, it really has been an incredible night so far. But one of the best moments by far was when Michelle Obama popped up on our screens to give The Weeknd the award for Best International Male.
Yes, Michelle Obama was at the Brits?! We totally weren't expecting to see her - which made her appearance even better.
'Michelle Obama???? Michelle OBAMA?? Am I having a fever dream?' one viewer tweeted. Another added, 'THEY HAVE MICHELLE OBAMA???? THE GRAMMYS ARE SUCH A FLOP IN COMPARISON.' A third paid tribute to The Weeknd, saying, 'NAH BUT FR, YOU HAD AN AMAZING 2020. GREAT ALBUM GREAT STORYLINE AND NOW THE ONE AND ONLY MICHELLE OBAMA PROUDLY ANNOUNCES YOUR AWARD. WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU @theweeknd!!!! The male solo international artist of 2020 at the #brits2021!!'
In her speech, the former First Lady thanked the Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) - who treated us to a stunning performance of Save Your Tears - for 'donating million to causes like COVID relief, and Black Lives Matters. He’s helped feed those displaced by violence in places like Ethiopia, he’s funded assistance to survivors of the explosion in Lebanon. So let’s just say in a tough year, he’s provided a light that’s pretty blinding and given us all a reason to dance.'
Little Mix also had an amazing night - making history as the first girl band to win British group. Leigh-Anne, who recently announced her pregnancy, said in their historic speech, 'It's not easy being a female in the UK pop industry. We have seen white male dominance, misogyny, sexism and lack of diversity. 'We are proud of how we have stuck together, stood our ground and surrounded ourselves with strong women and are now using our voices more than ever.'
