Michelle Keegan has given birth to her first child with husband with Mark Wright, taking to social media to announce they had welcomed a baby girl. The 37-year-old actress posted a black and white image of her and Mark, 38, holding their new arrival’s hand and teasing us with a glimpse of the side of the baby’s face.

In the sweet post, shared to the couple’s combined 9.4million followers, the proud new parents announced their daughter’s name. ‘Together we have a new love to share… Our little girl,’ the pair wrote. ‘Palma Elizabeth Wright 06.03.25.’

What does the name Palma mean?

Michelle and Mark have made no so secret of their connection to Mallorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands in Spain. Palma – the capital of the island – was the setting for the couple’s stunning pregnancy announcement back in December.

In the image, former Coronation Street actress Michelle was seen cradling her bump in a white two-piece as she stood on the sand with the water lapping behind her.

Mark, matching his wife in an off-white outfit, is seen walking towards Michelle in the shot. The pair – who tied the knot in 2015 – own an apartment just outside of Palma.

Fans are now questioning whether their daughter was conceived in the location she is named after. ‘I wonder if they were in Majorca 9 months ago? An unusual but beautiful name,’ one fan commented.

While a second added, ‘Gorgeous name, wonder if it has any links considering they've got a place in Spain.’

Mark and Michelle’s daughter Palma’s middle name is Elizabeth, named after Michelle’s great-great grandmother. Michelle learnt more about Elizabeth on an episode of Who Do You Think You Are? in 2018, discovering her great-great grandmother Elizabeth Kirwan was part of the Suffragette movement – and her daughter’s birth had been registered by Emmeline Pankhurst.

She said on the show, ‘I was speaking to my great aunty Paula, who was telling me about her grandma Elizabeth, and she was telling me about how she was the matriarch of the street and of the community. She used to take people in and everyone saw her as this strong leader of the community.’

According to Babynames.co.uk, Elizabeth is currently the 47th most popular girl’s name in the UK and means ‘promised by God’.
