Hollywood legend Kate Winslet has won the Best Leading Actress TV BAFTA for her performance in I Am Ruth. But that's not before she hit the red carpet with her co-star, 22-year-old actor Mia Threappleton, who also happens to be her daughter.

Actor Mia, who follows in her famous mum's footsteps, starred as Ruth's (Kate Winslet) daughter Freya in the BAFTA-nominated show. Their episode, which is part of the I Am... series on Channel 4, follows Ruth as she navigates her daughter's toxic relationship with social media.

I Am Ruth is not based directly on a true story, but has been inspired by real situations of parents struggling to understand and help their children when they are being driven to mental health crises in relation to social media. I Am Ruth's dialogue is entirely improvised, as are the other episodes.

Kate won the 'Best Leading Actress' nomination, beating a strong list of contenders including Billie Piper in I Hate Suzie Too (Sky Atlantic), Imelda Staunton in The Crown (Netflix), Maxine Peake in Anne (Channel 4), Sarah Lancashire in Julia (Sky Atlantic) and Vicky McClure in Without Sin (ITVX). I Am Ruth is also nominated in the 'Single Drama' category.

Before they took their seats, the mother and daughter duo stunned on the red carpet together. Mia, whose father is Kate Winslet's ex Jim Threappleton, matched her mum in a black gown for the awards ceremony. The Titanic star spoke about acting alongside her daughter on the red carpet and said: 'To not only see your child do something that they love, but to do it incredibly well.. and what she had to do to create this character is quite frightening stuff. And we did that together. When I watched the finished project, I couldn't believe we'd done it and I couldn't believe it was her. She's just so brilliant.'

This year's TV BAFTAs are held at the Queen Elizabeth Hall at London’s Southbank, which marks a change in venue as last year's event was held at the city's Royal Festival Hall. They are hosted by comedians Romesh Ranganathan and Rob Beckett for the first time.
