Designs For Meghan Markle's Wedding Dress Have Been Leaked

With the date set for May 2018 for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s upcoming nuptials, planning for the royal wedding is no doubt in full swing. While the couple has already settled on a venue (the ceremony will take place at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle), one of the biggest questions remains: which designer will Meghan wear to walk down the aisle?

It seems that the future royal is already investigating potential options for her gown: hardly a surprise, given that six months is a spectacularly short turn-around time for a wedding that’ll be broadcast to millions of people around the world). What is perhaps more surprising, however, is the fact that sketches from one designer have already been leaked to TMZ.

According to new reports, Israel-based couturier Inbal Dror was requested to send sketches over to the palace, which were then obtained by the US gossip site. Confirming the leak to People, the brand said: ‘We received a request from the royal family to send a sketch. Unfortunately it’s a secret and I can’t give more details about the sketch.’

The sketches in question are certainly a departure from the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding style. While all three designs are long sleeved, like Kate’s Alexander McQueen gown, two feature a more figure-hugging, fishtail style with slightly lower necklines and lace detailing. While it’s now pretty unlikely that Meghan will opt for a Dror design (there’s nothing like a TMZ leak in the early stages of wedding planning to win over the Palace’s confidence, right?), we can perhaps glean a few hints as to the bride-to-be’s sartorial direction. It seems we can certainly expect Meghan to opt for a less traditional style than Kate’s Sarah Burton design: Dror is best known for dramatic creations featuring heavy embellishment, sheer fabrics and unexpected cut-outs, as encapsulated in the bridal gown worn by Beyoncé to the 2016 Grammys ceremony.

Discussing her dream wedding dress with Glamour last year, Meghan revealed: ‘I personally prefer wedding dresses that are whimsical or subtly romantic. Delphine Manivet and Christos Costarellos are faves of mine for their uniqueness and beauty. And I will always be a fan of Elie Saab. J. Mendel is spectacular as well, especially for more structural designs.
