Prince Andrew made the decision to withdraw from public life this week as the fallout from his BBC Newsnight interview rages on. The Duke of York was questioned by Emily Maitlis last weekend regarding his involvement with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein and more specifically, over claims he had sex with Virginia Roberts, now Virginia Giuffre.

He explained he had no recollection of meeting the woman he has been photographed with, claiming he can't have slept with her as sex is a 'positive act' that's 'hard to forget'.

While businesses and charities have distanced himself from the Royal, a source 'close to Meghan Markle's team' has now spoken to The Telegraph and revealed she's 'troubled' by his interview.

'The interview left everyone watching it wanting to curl under a table,' they said. 'It just got worse and worse and worse.'

A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace declined to comment.

Giuffre alleges in court documents that she was 'forced to have sexual relations with this prince when she was a minor'. Despite Prince Andrew claiming he doesn't remember ever meeting her, a photograph of him with his arm around then 17-year-old has been widely published.

When questioned by Maitlis, he responded, 'Without putting too fine a point on it, if you're a man it is a positive act to have sex with somebody.

'You have to take some sort of positive action and so therefore if you try to forget it's very difficult to try and forget a positive action and I do not remember anything.'

It's this response which is said to have caused Meghan, who publicly supports female victims of domestic violence, concern.
