Meghan Markle The Tig

In news that has lifted us out of a Monday morning funk, Meghan Markle’s business manager has renewed the trademark for her now closed lifestyle blog The Tig, and we’re very much hoping this means a comeback.

Markle shut The Tig down in 2017 a year after her relationship with Prince Harry began, not explicitly stating her new relationship as the reason, but posting grateful goodbye message on the site which read; ‘After close to three beautiful years on this adventure with you, it's time to say goodbye to The Tig. What began as a passion project (my little engine that could) evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun and frivolity.’

The Sun reports that business manager Andrew Meyer filed paperwork which gives Meghan access to the trademark until 2021, plus there’s another website listed in the filing; Tigtots – could this mean there’s going to be a parenting arm of The Tig if it makes a comeback?

The official line from a royal spokesperson is; ‘the lasting trademark is to prevent false branding, to avoid others purporting to be the Duchess or affiliated with her,’ but we wouldn’t be at all surprised if The Tig’s revival is Meghan’s next project.

Markle has launched a series of initiatives since becoming Duchess; she’s guest edited Vogue – and reportedly told staff she wanted to ‘break the internet’ with her issue of the magazine – and launched a capsule clothing collection with Smart Works, all alongside her royal duties and charitable work with husband Prince Harry.

A royal source told the Sun; ‘It’s fascinating Meghan’s business manager has ensured she keeps The Tig for a few more years at least. Of course it’s understandable she wouldn’t want an entrepreneur using the name without her involvement.

‘But given her desire to be a different type of royal — pushing her own causes using digital and social media — it’s not out of the question she’d think The Tig could play an important role.’
