Good news for fans of the Duchess of Sussex, as Meghan Markle has made a surprise appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The interview aired today - with Meghan recalling the night her and Harry snuck out to a Halloween party before they were official.
In 2016, Harry came to visit her in Toronto with Princess Eugenie and her now-husband Jack Brooksbank, but, in order to keep on the DL, everyone went in disguise to a party with a 'post-apocalyptic theme'. 'The four of us snuck out in Halloween costumes to just have one fun night on the town before it was out in the world that we were a couple,' she said, adding that they were in 'very bizarre' outfits.
Teaser clips uploaded to social media yesterday showed Meghan chatting with the host, joking about when the former Suits actress used to audition at the same place where Ellen's studio is located (on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, California).
Despite Meghan's acting career, it's the first time Meghan has been on the famous US talkshow. In the teaser, Ellen says to Meghan: 'You said the last talk show you did was like, I don’t know, another decade ago, but you used to come to this lot to audition all the time.'
'Oh my gosh, completely,' Meghan replied. 'I would park at gate three and then I would scoot on over, and what was so nice is the security guards would always say, "Break a leg, we hope you get it!" So to drive in today was very different.'
Meghan also recalled how her former life was far less glamorous, as her old car which she took to auditions didn't work. 'I had this very, very old Ford Explorer Sport, and at a certain point the key stopped working on the driver’s side, so you couldn’t get yourself in through the door,' she explained, before explaining her unusual way to get into the car: 'So after auditions, I would park at the back of the parking lot and I would open the trunk and climb in and then pull it shut behind me and crawl over all my seats to get out. That’s how I would come to and fro.' If anybody saw her, Meghan said, she'd just 'play it off'.
