We can’t lie, we were pretty devastated when Meghan Markle wasn’t in the Suits finale. But now the creator has revealed that he didn’t even ask the Duchess of Sussex whether she wanted to be in it. (A classic example of not asking, and not getting!)

‘In the end I didn’t ask, and I just thought, I’m going to respect her new life and not put her in the position of having to ask. We decided not to put her in that position so I never asked,’ creator Aaron Korsh told Deadline.

In the season seven finale, Meghan’s charcter Rachel Zane was written out of the show when she married Mike Ross and moved to Seattle. And that episode aired in April 2018, which was just a month before she marriedPrince Harry{ =nofollow}.

The creator did referenceMeghanin the finale though, as she ended up in a montage.

‘I wrote that thing into the script,’ he added. 'I am a nostalgic person. We talked about it. We weren’t sure it would work, and we weren’t sure how much to put in. There were certain people that thought we shouldn’t do it. I was open to hearing that maybe we shouldn’t do it because we did have a lot of endings. All those people, when they actually saw it, decided they wanted it in, they liked it. For me, it adds to the good vibe of the show.’

While you might think that the Duchess would refuse because of her new job as a royal, it wouldn't have been the first time the royals have been on screen. William and Harry filmed scenes for Star Wars as stormtroopers - but they were cut as they were too tall. And, hilariously, the Queen also appeared in James Bond scenes at the Olympics opening ceremony in 2012.
