The Powerlist which ranks the 100 most influential black people in the world just unveiled their 2020 list.
The Duchess of Sussex was amongst the list of powerful and famous names from the world of arts, business and charity, after being a new entry to the list last year. Meghan also featured on a similar list in American publication The Root, [] where she was number 85 and was featured in Time Magazine’s list last year as well being a runner up for Person of the Year.
Only the top 10 of the Powerlist 2020 are ranked, with Ismail Ahmed, the head of money transfer company World Remit, taking the top spot. Cosmetics Queen Pat McGrath, one of the biggest names in the beauty industry, took the number two spot, while 26-year-old Stormzy, who made headlines recently after it suggested his scholarship to help black students study at Cambridge University had had positive effect on the number of black students applying was listed at number 5.
Just underneath Stormzy was Edward Enninful, the current editor-in-chief of British Vogue, who was awarded an OBE in 2016 for his services to the fashion industry which include trying to diversify it. Enninful and Meghan Markle famously collaborated on the Forces for Change September issue of British Vogue.
Other names who didn’t crack the top 10 but were on the list included actors Idris Elba, John Boyega and Naomie Harris as well as sportspeople Anthony Joshua, Raheem Stirling and Lewis Hamilton. Meghan was listed in the ‘Public, Third Sector and Education’ category as a campaigner.
