Meet Meghan Markle's New Right-Hand Woman

When Meghan Markle marries Prince Harry on 19th May, she’ll officially become a member of the British royal family. With that will come many changes, so it’s no surprise that Meghan has already been appointed a new assistant to help ease her transition to royal life (which, in our humble opinion, we think she’s acing already).

Meghan’s new right hand woman is senior communications officer Amy Pickerill, who was picked by Prince Harry himself to assist his fiancée with her future royal duties (and in the run-up to the wedding of the year). Amy joined the press team at Kensington Palace in 2016, assisting the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Prince with media relations, but now boasts the title of Assistant Private Secretary to Prince Harry, with the specific responsibility of working alongside Meghan.

According to the Daily Mail, Amy’s move into the role has been ‘long planned.’ Her new duties will involve everything and anything from organising Meghan’s diary to collecting flowers and other gifts when the royal couple are out on public engagements (as she was pictured doing on the pair’s recent visits to Cardiff and Brixton). It’s possible that she will accompany Harry and Meghan on any future royal tours or international visits, too (much like the Duchess of Cambridge’s assistant, Catherine Quinn).

Before joining the royal household, Amy has certainly enjoyed an impressive career. After a degree in history from the University of Nottingham and a broadcast journalism degree from City University, London, she worked at the Treasury before joining the RBS press office as head of campaigns. She also briefly moved to Manhattan to work for PR agency Ogilvy, before re-joining RBS in the capacity of head of campaigns and regional media.
