Meghan Markle has been in the media spotlight ever since her relationship with Prince Harry was confirmed in November 2016.
But now the Suits actress is making the headlines in her own right.
Meghan has been working in Delhi with international charity World VisionWorld Vision, a relief organisation that she’s been the Global Ambassador for since 2016.
On a five-day mission in the Indian capital, Meghan focused on issues affecting women and young girls in local slums. The actress actively took part in discussions on education, healthcare and economic development, in the hope of empowering women in the local area.
Meghan also discussed the future of education, hygiene and sanitation in schools with community leaders such as Shamina Shafiq, a former member of the National Commission for Women.
Yet this is not Meghan’s first trip with World Vision according to her blog, The TigThe Tig. The actress recently travelled to Africa to help provide local communities with clean water. The 35-year-old also visited schoolchildren in Rwanda and refugee camps outside of Kigali.
Her work undeniably mirrors that of the late Princess Diana, who was renowned for her charitable endeavours, particularly her work in the field of HIV.
And Meghan’s interest in female empowerment overseas also reflects boyfriend Prince Harry’s humanitarian work in Africa for his charity, Sentebale.
