Another day, another name in the running. As the royal wedding date grows closer, speculation shrouding the designer behind Meghan Markle’s dress grows. This week, Erdem Moralıoğlu is leading the fash pack.

The London Fashion Week fixture has leapfrogged over former favourite, Ralph and Russo, in the race for the most coveted job of 2018 all thanks to a tiny - potentially telling - clue.

Eagle-eyed industry insiders spotted that the London Fashion Week fixture is expanding its team and has decided to move its PR in-house. The company also recently revealed via Diary Directory that it’s hiring a full-time PR manager. Perhaps in a preparatory effort to handle the inevitable media flurry if Meghan steps out in an Erdem number?

Yes, royal wedding hysteria may have made something out of nothing but the fashion house is a strong contender in its own right.

With a penchant for Canadian labels, it would come as no surprise to some if the duchess-in-waiting donned a bespoke Erdem dress on her big day. After all, it wouldn’t be the first time she’s looked to the fashion house for sartorial assistance.

Last summer, the 36-year-old joined Prince Harry at Tom Inskip and Laura Hughes-Young’s Jamaica-based nuptials in a floor-skimming Erdem dress. While future sister-in-law, the Duchess of Cambridge, is also a firm fan of the brand thanks to his sought-after florals.

Most recently, the pregnant royal donned a monochrome number by the trusted brand for the Commonwealth Fashion Exchange hosted at Buckingham Palace. And according to whispers, Meghan regularly seeks royal fashion advice from the 36-year-old.

The truth is, the world won't know which designer Meghan has chosen until she heads down the aisle.

The soon-to-be newlyweds will tie the knot on May 19 at St George's Chapel in Windsor.
