As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle landed in Sydney, Australia for the start for their first royal tour together outside the UK they announced they are expecting their first child.

Kensington Palance announced the news this morning, with a spokesman saying, ‘Their Royal Highnesses are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in Spring 2019.

‘Their Royal Highnesses very much appreciate all of the support they have received from people around the work since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share their happy news.

‘The Queen, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, and Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted for the couple and were able to congratulated them in Friday at the wedding in person.

‘Ms Doria Ragland is very happy about the lovely news and she looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild.'

This happy news comes after months of speculation, which reached fever pitch on Friday when the Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry attended Princess Eugenie's wedding - at the same Windsor location as their nuptials in May - through a discreet side entrance.

The couple are now on a 16-day tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga, which will include 76 engagements and a visit to the Invictus Games. The latter two locations, Fiji and Tonga, are Zika risk areas and a spokesperson has said that Meghan has taken medical advice about being in the presence of this virus.
