It appears that Meghan Markle is embracing her new status as an honourary Brit by investigating all that the UK high street has to offer: the soon-to-be royal opted to wear a jumper from Marks & Spencer for a visit to Brixton with her fiancé, Prince Harry.
The knit in question is a round-neck style with oversized bell sleeves in navy blue, costing £45. Such is Meghan’s sartorial star power that the jumper had sold out within hours of her being photographed in Brixton, with fans apparently clamouring to add this Markle-approved staple to their wardrobes. Now, Marks & Spencers have re-stocked the affordable style in a range of sizes (though we'd fully recommend acting fast if you want to get your hands on the jumper...)
Meghan paired the navy knit with wide leg trousers by Burberry, a coat by Canadian brand Smythe and a scarf from another British high street favourite, Jigsaw. The former Suits star wore her hair swept into a casual up-do for the visit to Reprezent 107.3 FM and Pop Brixton, which marked her second official engagement with Harry.
It hardly comes as a surprise that Meghan’s M&S jumper was snapped up in a matter of hours: since her engagement to Harry was confirmed by Clarence House back in November, the so-called ‘Meghan effect’ has become a fashion force to be reckoned with, with shoppers rushing to get their hands on the pieces worn by the royal-in-waiting.
For a visit to Nottingham shortly after the engagement announcement, Meghan carried a tote by Strathberry, an under-the-radar Scottish accessories label, a style which quickly sold out, and shone a spotlight upon the brand in the process. Even after they re-stocked Meghan’s tri-colour handbag, it sold out again, with a new drop scheduled for February.
Meghan and Harry are set to tie the knot on 19th May 2018 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
