Proving her enduring strength, endless elegance and flawless beauty once again today, Meghan Markle has just given the most inspiring, fully memorised and charismatically executed first royal speech a Duchess could ever give.

Hosting a celebration of the Grenfell cookbook by the women of the Hubb Community Kitchen, Together: Our Community Cookbook, in which Meghan wrote the foreword, she gave the spoke passionately for three minutes about how the women welcomed her so warmly when she first moved to London.

‘Working on this project for the past nine months has been a tremendous labor of love,’ she said, ‘I just recently moved to London and I felt so immediately embraced by this kitchen — your warmth and kindness, and also to be able to be in this city and to see in this one small room how multicultural it was.’

In a video captured by ITV’s Chris Ship, Prince Harry and Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland can be seen smiling at each other and looking on proudly as Meghan delivers her speech, flawlessly and without notes. ‘On a personal level, I feel so proud to live in this city that can have so much diversity,’ she continued, ‘there’s 12 countries represented in this one group of women. It’s pretty outstanding.’

Making a pointed comment about uniting people instead of creating divides, she spoke about the meaning behind the project and how it’s more than just a cook book. ‘I said in the foreword that this is more than a cookbook, and what I mean by that is the power of food is more than just the meal itself. It’s the story behind it. When we get to know the story of the recipe, you get to know the person behind it,’ she said.

‘That’s what we’re talking about in terms of coming together to really engage and talk and to be able to celebrate what connects us rather than what divides us. That, I believe, is the ethos of Together.’

It’s clear to see from Meghan’s ability to talk so passionately and without prompts that this ‘first project’ of hers was extremely significant. Of course, as impressive as Meghan’s speech-giving skills are, the truly inspiring act in this story is the strength of the community that came together to help feed their displaced neighbours, and now can continue to fund their efforts with the sale of this charity cookbook.
