Master Archie has only been around since May 2019, but his parents Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are already making sure he’s got his priorities straight by making a large charitable donation on his behalf.
Just over £4,000 was donated to Love the Oceans under the name ‘Archie HMW’, according to Harper’s Bazaar. The charity is involved in a number of projects including; carrying out research on marine life, running a community outreach program to help prevent people drowning in Guinjata Bay, Mozambique where the charity is based and protecting endangered species in the area.
Archie’s donation has reportedly helped the charity get closer to their goal of opening a swimming pool so they can teach children to swim. ‘Without that donation and support this would not be happening,’ Love the Oceans partner Adam Knight, told Harper's Bazaar.
‘Now that we’re able to go ahead with this, we will all be thinking of Archie when we open the pool next August. What started out as a passion project is now transforming a community and beyond.’
Archie follows in the footsteps of his charitable parents; Prince Harry is well known for his creating the Invictus Games in which wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel take part in a competition involving nine different sports.
Meghan Markle recently launched a clothing collection in association with the charity Smart Works. Whenever you buy one of the items in the collection, the brand will donate one to Smart Works, which offers professional clothes and interview training to unemployed women, helping to encourage and support them to enter the workspace.
The charity’s mission is clear: 'We harness the power of clothes and confidence to allow a woman to be her best at a crucial moment in her life, giving her the confidence, the self-belief and the practical tools required to succeed at interview and transform her life.
