Was Meghan Markle The Actress Behind This Anonymous Gossip Blog?

Yes, you've heard of Meghan Markle's now-defunct lifestyle blog The Tig, but were you aware that, earlier in her acting career, the soon-to-be royal reportedly kept another, this time anonymous blog, documenting the ups and downs of life as an aspiring star chasing roles and hitting the audition circuit?

According to a new report in the Daily Mail, in which the paper has matched up different episodes detailed in the blog with experiences which Meghan has previously alluded to in interviews and gained confirmation from 'impeccable sources,' Meghan could possibly be the star behind The Working Actress. The blog, which was active between 2010 and 2013 (which was around the time that Meghan landed her major role in Suits) and has since disappeared from the internet, provided honest insights into the less glamorous side of the entertainment industry. In one post, the anonymous author shared her frustrations with readers, writing: 'I've had to freeze my acting union membership, borrow money, work jobs that I hated, endure being treated like s**t, kiss actors with smelly breath and cry for hours on end because I just didn't think I could take it any more.'

While other posts take a more positive approach to being among 'the club of the fortunate few that sometimes make a living playing dress up,' the author is always unflinchingly honest about 'the hustle' required to make it in Hollywood. 'It's harder than most would think. Humbling. Gruelling. Sometimes mind-numbing,' she wrote. 'But at the end of the day, it's all worth it. People often describe actors who pop onto the scene as "overnight success stories." Here's the reality - it's more like years of hustle.'

Elsewhere in the blog, the writer alluded to the challenges of working away from home for long periods and apparently made veiled references to her life with ex-husband Trevor Engelson, who Meghan married in 2011.

According to one of the Mail's sources, the blog was 'a way for [Meghan] to vent her frustrations and try to have a voice in the industry. I think it was also a way to inspire other struggling actors — and herself, too — to keep going'

The “Working Actress” persona was like a therapy for her,’ continued the insider. ‘It allowed her to lay bare her struggles and also call out to some industry people while remaining anonymous. She really wrote it in her own voice. I think this shows a side of Meghan people might not expect.'

Kensington Palace have said they would not comment on the Mail's report.
