The pair made the shock announcement that they were going to leave their roles and become financially independent in January. It was reported in February that their Buckingham Palace office was set to close{

But President Trump has since said the U.S. won’t pay for the pair’s security. The president tweeted he was ‘a great friend and admirer of the Queen and the United Kingdom’, but added: ‘They must pay!’
However, Harry and Meghan later said they didn’t intend to ask the US government for security anyway. A spokesperson for the Sussexes said, ‘The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to ask the US government for security resources.
