Meghan And Harry Have Officially Switched On Their Out Of Office Email

Meghan{ =nofollow}and Harry officially left their senior royal duties on March 31 - and they’ve changed their emails to prove it. If you try and email the Duke and Duchess’ office, you will be met with the response: ‘Many thanks for your email. The office for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has now closed.’ Well, that leaves us in no doubt.

The pair made the shock announcement that they were going to leave their roles and become financially independent in January. It was reported in February that their Buckingham Palace office was set to close{ =nofollow}, meaning 15 members of staff would lose their jobs. The palace had set up a separate household - at Harry and Meghan's request - when they split their office from William and Kate's last year.

‘Given their decision to step back, an office at Buckingham Palace is no longer needed,' a source told the Daily Mail. 'While the details are still being finalised and efforts are being made to redeploy people within the royal household, unfortunately there will be some redundancies.’

For the next chapter of their life, Meghan and Harry have moved to California, leaving their £10.7million rented property in Canada. But President Trump has since said the U.S. won’t pay for the pair’s security. The president tweeted he was ‘a great friend and admirer of the Queen and the United Kingdom’, but added: ‘They must pay!’

However, Harry and Meghan later said they didn’t intend to ask the US government for security anyway. A spokesperson for the Sussexes said, ‘The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to ask the US government for security resources. Privately funded security arrangements have been made.’ The Canadian government announced that it would stop providing security for the family last month.
