Well, stepping down from senior royal duties was a big risk for Harry and Meghan - but it hasn’t affected their Instagram game. In fact, they’ve actually been gaining followers. (Yes, even though there was one woman who phoned into This Morning yesterday to say she’d unfollowed the SussexRoyal account.)
Looking at their Instagram statistics, on Wednesday, the royals actually gained 106.4K followers on the day of their announcement (up from 10.10million to 10.20million). The next day, the momentum was even steeper, as 214.7K more people pressed the follow button (taking the figure up to 10.42million). And yesterday, their follower count still increased by 45.6K, which is nothing to be sniffed at.
Currently, the royals are at 10.47million followers, but with this current growth, we only expect it to rise as they distance themselves from the royals. The last time they had a spike this big was when their son, Archie, was born in May where they jumped from 6.37million followers to 7.53million followers from May 6 - May 9.
