Megan Thee Stallion has revealed that she's grateful to be alive after being shot multiple times at a Hollywood party. The rapper shared an Instagram post last night, in which she explained that she was taken to hospital to have the bullets removed, and, thankfully, is expected to make a full recovery following the altercation. She did not disclose who shot her.
'I was never arrested, the police officers drove me to the hospital where I underwent surgery to remove the bullets,' she wrote. 'I’m incredibly grateful to be alive and that I’m expected to make a full recovery, but it was important for me to clarify the details about this traumatic night. I’m currently focused on my recovery, so I can return back to my life and back to making music as soon as possible.'
She added, 'I was never arrested. This whole experience was an eye opener and a blessing in disguise. I hate that it took this experience for me to learn how to protect my energy.'
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed they responded to reports of gunshots at about 04:30 PST on Sunday. And rapper Tory Lanez, who was with Megan Thee Stallion, was arrested on a concealed weapon charge on Sunday and was bailed later that day. Kylie Jenner also started trending on Twitter, as it had been rumoured that Megan and Troy had been at the reality star's house prior to the altercation.
Megan's post has since received over 1.5million likes, and thousands of fans have sent their well wishes, hoping Meg has a speedy recovery. But, over on Twitter, some men have felt that this traumatic altercation is the right time to click send on some seriously questionable 'memes'. One example shows a man joking about where they'd put their stethoscope as a doctor, and another shows makes a joke about how they'd try to sneak into the hospital room. These are only two examples, but there are many more which are equally disgusting.
It goes without saying that any joke about a shooting just isn't funny, but trying a sexualise a woman who has been shot, when she could have quite literally died, is particularly gross. As @mizzlywizz wrote on Twitter, 'If your first reaction to hearing Megan thee Stallion got shot was posting a tweet sexualising her in some failed attempt at a joke, please think back... Try to pinpoint exactly when it was you lost all humanity and use this time to try to source some compassion. Urgently.' We hope Megan makes a full recovery quickly.
