Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly's relationship has been infamously volatile. Their status as a couple has fluctuated drastically between on and off since last February, when they first sparked split speculation. But amid the ups and downs, the question many have been asking is: are Megan and MGK officially together today?

Well, it would appear that they are striving towards that, as earlier this month it was claimed by Entertainment Tonight that they were 'taking things one day at a time with their relationship'.

The source said, 'They are continuing to go to therapy, be fully transparent with each other about their feelings, and have consistent communication.

'They have dealt with some trust issues, but are both making a continual effort to stay committed to their mutual end goal of being together forever. They are also respecting each other's space when needed, which is key for them during this time.'

The outlet additionally reported that the couple are being mindful of how their situation impacts their children. Megan is mum to Noah, 11, Bodhi, 10 and seven-year-old Journey with her ex-husband Brian Austin Green, and MGK has a teenage daughter Casie, 14, from a previous relationship.

'Overall, they're doing their best to make things work and keeping their kids in mind as well,' the source explained. 'They are trying to keep their relationship issues as private as possible and protect their children from any drama or outside noise.'

While our fingers are firmly crossed that this will pave the way to a happily ever after for Megan Fox and MGK, let's take a deep dive into what's been going on.

Megan Fox's appearance on Call Her Daddy

When actress Megan appeared on Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast in March 2024, she touched on the tumultuous time she and MGK - whose real name is Colson Baker - had been through over the past year. She confirmed that she had previously called off their engagement, but later said she had no intention to speak of their relationship in interviews after her time in the Call Her Daddy hot seat.

She said of the uncertainty surrounding the nature of their relationship, 'I think that what I’ve learned from being in this relationship is that it’s not for public consumption. So I think, as of now, I don’t have a comment on the status of the relationship, per se. What I can say is that [he] is what I refer to as being my "twin soul," and there will always be a tether to him, no matter what.

'I can’t say for sure what the capacity will be, but I will always be connected to him somehow. Beyond that, I’m not willing to explain. All those things you said were accurate things that have occurred [that we got engaged, called it off, and now people aren’t sure what our status is]. And I could see them being confusing, or interesting to people, and them being like, "What’s up?"'

Split rumours first surfaced in February 2023

Megan, 37, met musician MGK, 34, on the set of Midnight in the Switchgrass in 2020. They were first linked in May of that year, when they were photographed getting a takeaway together in Calabasas. The following month, they seemingly confirmed their romance by stepping out hand in hand in LA, but waited until a month later to hard-launch it on social media. They got engaged in January 2022 and allegedly wasted no time getting immersed in wedding planning. But by the time February 2023 rolled around, their engagement was marred by reports they'd hit a massive bump in the road.

Despite attending the Super Bowl together on the Friday night, Megan unfollowed her fiancé and removed all traces of him from Instagram 48 hours later. She shared a post with the Beyoncé lyrics, 'You can taste the dishonesty/ it’s all over your breath,' from the songstress's 2016 song Pray You Catch Me, which was allegedly inspired by her reaction to hearing rumours that her husband, Jay-Z, had been unfaithful. This led fans to speculate whether infidelity had plagued Megan and MGK's relationship, with the rapper's guitarist, Sophie Lloyd, landing headfirst into the hearsay.

Her management told Page Six at the time, 'Sophie Lloyd is a professional, accomplished musician who has been needlessly dragged into the media based off of meritless accusations made by social media.

'Any suggestion that she has ever acted in an unprofessional manner or stepped out of her relationship are untrue. It’s disrespectful to her as a female artist and poor journalism and social commentary to be reporting anything else.'

Over the last 14 months, there have been ample reports about the state of Megan and MGK's relationship, namely that they're 'still working it out' and to some variation 'still on and off'.

But considering Megan and Machine Gun Kelly's tenacious effort to make their relationship work, hopefully they'll be more ups than downs from here on out.
