Maya Jama Isn’t Going To Cover Up Just Because You’re ‘Insulted’ By Her Body

The presenter rightly says it's 'ridiculous' she has only started to receive more criticism on her outfits since 'putting on weight'.

In a new interview, Maya Jama has said she will continue to 'dress how she wants, no matter what size she is' following complaints about her outfits on Peter Crouch's Save Our Summer. Honestly, why people would take the time to complain about seeing a bit of cleavage on TV is beyond us. But, in 2020, it still happens - as we're living in a world where over 200 people recently complained to Ofcom about Amanda Holden wearing a low-cut dress on Britain's Got Talent. Unbelievable, we know.

Speaking to the Mail, Maya said she's only started to receive backlash when wearing low-cut dresses and tops now she has a 'fuller figure'. 'I've always worn the same thing but when I was slimmer nobody commented on it and as soon as you have got a fuller figure people are shocked and insulted by your body, so I found it ridiculous,' the 26-year-old said. 'I've been wearing the same outfits, the same cut tops, my entire career and there was never really that many comments on it until I started putting on a bit of weight.'

As Maya explained, it's always ridiculous for people to be offended by boobs on TV - because if you were so outraged by them, that would mean avoiding a lot of places in real life. 'I was like gosh, if you're shocked at boobs or even just a bit of cleavage on telly, I don't know how people cope when they go to the swimming pool or the beach because there's a lot more boobs on show there,' she continued. 'It's a woman's body – I don't feel like it should cause such outrage.'

Thankfully, Maya doesn't let any criticism or trolling influence how she dresses or views her body, with her saying that she's 'going to continue to dress how I've always dressed no matter what size I am'. She added: 'Everybody has got different ideas of what they have as an ideal body shape, some people want to look really skinny, some people want to look really curvy, some people don't care, some people really do care. Other people have their own opinions on how they prefer me to look but I'm certainly not letting that influence my own ideas.'

Keep on looking amazing, Maya.
