Matthew McConaughey has just turned 50. And how is he celebrating? Well, apparently by joining Instagram.
The star’s first post is almost like a mini vlog, explaining why he joined the social media site.
‘This is my first venture into sharing myself and my views with the world and I’m a little bit nervous about it because quite frankly,’ he told the camera. ‘I’m not quite sure I want to have the dialogue. But I know I have to have the dialogue, too. So I’m looking forward to it. I’m looking forward to sharing who I am with you, to seeing if who I am translates, if what I want to share translates…’
He continued, ‘If it tickles your funny bone, if it makes you think a second, if it makes your heart swell up a little bit, if it makes you take a quiet moment and go for a walk. Let’s have some fun with it though.’
The Dallas Buyers Club joined the site yesterday, and has already amassed a whopping 760,000 followers. You can follow him at @officiallymcconaughey.
However, he’s got nothing on Jennifer Aniston’s record to become the account to reach 1 million followers quickest. In fact, she even broke the app for a little while, as she gained 10million followers in just 24 hours. A couple of weeks on and she has upped her follower count to 18.5million, as she continues to post fun behind the scenes pics.
But, Aniston told Jimmy Kimmel that she already had a 'secret' account on the site to snoop on other people. She explained, 'When I was thinking about doing this, I figured it was time to understand the world and dip my toe into the social media pool.'
