After her emergency petition was denied earlier this month, Mary-Kate Olsen has reportedly filed for divorce from her husband Olivier Sarkozy again. To help stop the spread of Covid-19, New York courts had been closed for all hearings that were not considered to be emergencies or immediately essential - but after eight weeks, they have now reopened.

Mary-Kate had originally filed an emergency petition on April 17 as she claimed Olivier was forcing her out of home - but the petition was denied by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Michael Katz, who ruled it wasn’t an essential matter. AndPage Sixhave now reported the couple split in April when Sarkozy invited his ex-wife, Charlotte Bernard, to move into their £4.08 million Hamptons home.

'Olivier was concerned for the safety of his family in New York during the pandemic. He insisted to Mary-Kate that he wanted to bring his ex-wife, their kids, and his mother from the city to their Bridgehampton home,' a source told Page Six. 'Maybe French people culturally have a different view of marriage, and while Mary-Kate loves his children, it was too much to have his ex-wife living with them during the pandemic.' Another source added that they simply 'grown apart' and that 'there’s no romance between Charlotte and Olivier'.

New York courts reopened on Monday - and according to the New York Daily News, Mary-Kate’s legal team were one of the first to file documents electronically. The outlet reported that the Manhattan county clerk processed and accepted the complaint and summons filed by the designer’s attorney’s.

Mary-Kate, 33, married Olivier, 51, in Manhattan, New York in 2015 and the pair first started dating in 2012. A source told Entertainment Tonight last week that the couple split because they felt they were at different stages in their lives.

They have no children together, but Olivier does have two teenage children from his previous marriage to Charlotte Bernard. Olivier works as a financier and his half-brother is Nicolas Sarkozy, the former President of France.
