Many of us will have grown up with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. We watched in awe (and envy) as they went from the cute twin child stars of the early 90s to millennial style icons and have probably spent a disproportionate amount of time wishing that we were them (just me).
It turns out though, that we all probably have a lot more in common with the Olsen twins than we first realised. How do we know? Because in a recent interview with Vogue.com about the launch of their latest perfume (yes, they do fragrance too, don’t ya know), the twins let slip that despite their distinctively clean-cut and understatedly elegant style and million dollar net worth, they’re actually pretty #relatable.

They’re also too lazy to find a new hairdresser
The prospect of switching hairdressers is terrifying. I think I speak for all of us when I say there’s a huge reluctance to move on from anyone you actually trust with your tresses. And it looks like Mary-Kate and Ashley feel the same way because, apparently, they’ve had the same stylist since they were 12 years old. Speaking about the development of their dry shampoo, Mary-Kate explained: ‘Mark Townsend, who has been working with us since we were 12 or so, he knows out hair better than anyone’.
They also do their make up on their commute
‘Ashley and I get ready in the car every morning, or we might work until 7.00 p.m. and have 10 minutes to get ready in the car on the way to an event or dinner’, said Mary-Kate. Sound familiar? I mean sure, we have to get the bus rather than be driven around in a fancy schmancy car with a driver, but it's practically the same.
They’re really into spiritual cleansing
It's no secret that our generation has re-developed a wider fascination with spirituality, which is something that plays a role in the Olsen twins lives'. 'I sage everything, all the time. Constantly sage'ing', Mary-Kate said. If you're unfamiliar with the concept, sage'ing (aka smudging) is basically a cleansing ritual. 'I don't want bad energy [...] clean space', she added.
They too are all about the crystal thing
You know how everyone is into crystal culture again? One of their new scents is called Amethyst, and when asked what drove its creation, Ashley confirmed: ‘Well, we do love crystals’. Of course, things like layering different musks to guide a scent and stuff played a part. But we’re mainly in it for the crystals.
