Maisie Williams Says 'Be The Most Important Person In Your Story'

We’re not having a small weep, honestly – that’s just our hayfever playing up. And it’s a bit dusty. We’re honestly not overcome with emotion after seeing Game Of Thrones star Maisie Williams make a rousing speech.

As an ambassador for the Always #LikeAGirl campaign, Maisie addressed the crowd at a launch event in New York, speaking movingly and honestly about the barriers girls face and how we can ‘nurture and celebrate all the qualities’ that make us different.

Maisie urges us to be ‘the most important person in your story – don’t stop until you’re unstoppable.’ Remember, even if you’re currently washing ink off your hands from replacing photocopier toner, it’s all about you right now.

Maisie told the crowd that while purpose was more important than gender, it was vital for girls to stick together and work together. ‘All of it hinges on confidence – build yours, protect yours, fight for yours,’ she urged us, making us all feel that defending our sense of self worth was even more important than fortifying the more vulnerable points of Westeros.

We love that Maisie is sharing this message with her fans, and we’ll definitely be posting it on our little sisters’ Facebook walls. We’ll probably rewatch it ourselves a few times, too.
