Last night, the BRIT Awards went down and we were there to witness it. As in, we literally saw Madonna fall right over and Taylor Swift was under the same roof as us. Shivers.

Anyway, if you didn’t catch the show and want to at least join in the conversation this morning at work – here are the five main things that went down.

Madonna fell over

Yep, her Madgesty took a tumble and the world collectively cringed – before she showed us all who is truly boss by literally not even missing a verse or anything. She just carried right on singing as if nothing had happened, and the world collectively applauded and said things like ‘Well, that was incredibly professional.’

See, it happens to the best of us. Even to Madonna. Just remember to carry on singing, guys (in a metaphorical sense unless you too are a multi-platinum selling recording artist performing at the Brit Awards – or indeed anywhere).

**Kanye West’s performance was a bit... muted **

His performance of new record All Day left viewers pretty angry – because of the explicit nature of, like, all of the lyrics, so most of the words were audio muted. So it sounded like his mic was off, and we didn’t get to actually hear the goddamn song.

Now, obviously there’s a watershed to consider – so why bother performing the song at all? Considering the televised nature of the BRITs is one of the most important things about it, it seems a bit of an odd choice. But hey, that’s Kanye. The man jumped on a table at Nando's shortly before arriving at the O2 so what do you expect?

He doesn’t play by the rules so it follows that he’ll swear all over the TV.

Taylor Swift was just all-round great

Channelling Cabaret, Tay absolutely nailed it with her performance of Blank Space as well as in the gong stakes, taking home Best International Female Artist. This was shortly after winning the Elle Style Awards Women Of The Year.

Basically, everyone loves her and we’re OK with this because she pays for some of her fans’ tuition, bakes them cakes and is friends with everyone. She also did a really cute dance just before running to watch Ed Sheeran perform, which we managed to grab on video for you. Because we’re also all-round great.

Ant And Dec Photobombed Kim Kardashian

This year the awards ceremony went off without a hitch, pretty much due to Ant and Dec’s flawless presenting. Whatever you think of them, they know what they’re doing. But one of our fave moments was them getting involved in a Kim Kardashian selfie. Ant probably needs to work on his trout pout a bit, though Dec is totally nailing it here.

Behold the full list of winners

**Sometimes it’s hard to remember that actually, this is an awards ceremony with awards. And not just loads of performances and selfies and Kanye West getting bleeped and stomping around the stage demanding record producers stand up. Here’s the complete list of winners for the night, and well done to all of them!
