Sophie Hermann andTom Zanetti were the stuff of reality TV dreams. Meeting on Celebs Go Dating, fans became obsessed with the DJ and the Duchess, who made a very unlikely - but very Instagrammable - pair. But, unfortunately. it wasn't to be. As we discovered in last night's MIC, Sophie called time on their four-month romance, realising that, actually, the pair weren't compatible.

Luckily, Sophie hasn't been alone - she told the news to her castmate, and best friend, Fredrik Ferrier, who she has been friends with for years, after a date between the pair of them didn't work out, something they're now both thankful for. 'Before my friendship with Fred, I personally never believed that a boy and girl could be friends,' Sophie says, speaking to Grazia on a video call with Fred. 'I always thought somebody has to want more. But it turns out that friendship can exist, and I'm just incredibly grateful.'

When Sophie revealed the news on MIC, Fred was a shoulder to lean on, and was there to reassure Sophie that she hadn't wasted her time on the romance. 'I hope those who watched it can realise that freaking out about time is really not the way to look at life,' he tells us. 'Things happen when they happen. And I always say to Sophie: she is exactly where she needs to be. And she should be less hard on herself because everything else in her life is blossoming and going from strength to strength.'

For the pair, they say the scene was difficult to film - it only happened a day after Tom and Sophie parted ways. And if it wasn't for meeting on CGD, Sophie tells us she wouldn't have publicly announced the break-up on TV. '[Having our relationship] played out on TV was very, very difficult for me, but also, it just made sense,' she says matter-of-factly. 'It's normally not my style to discuss that [on TV]. But since it started on TV, I thought it should end there as well. And it also made it easier for me to make a clean cut.'

And though their relationship was very public, there are some details about their split Sophie is going to keep private, in the hopes of being respectful to Tom. 'There were a lot of other factors that played a big role in in that separation that I just don't want to disclose on camera because really in the end, it's me and Tom's business,' she says, adding that the pair haven't been in touch since their split.

However, she does wish that she had maybe listened to her instinct more. 'I said to Fred in that scene that I'm just disappointed in my own judgment, because I should have known better due to my gut feeling from the beginning,' Sophie adds. 'You know when you look back, and there's essentially one red flag after the other. I think sometimes you meet people in your life that are just there for certain parts of your life. And it also serve a purpose. And so I don't want to I don't want to talk badly about him. I wish him all the best.'

In a later scene, Fred also gifts Sophie a Chanel mirror, which had the incredibly sweet meaning that the only person Sophie needs to love is the person looking back at her in the mirror. It's something Sophie jokily asks Fred on our call if the MIC production team asked him to gift her, to which he clarifies they definitely didn't. 'I do think that the sentiment is really important,' he tells us, 'the only person that matters is you. I do think that if you if you love yourself and you're accepting of yourself, and you're kind to yourself, then great things happen.'

Both Fred and Sophie say they are happy being on MIC for the while, with Fred - who has been on the show on and off for a decade - saying he's glad viewers have been able to see a different side of him this series as he's had more airtime. But Fred is also still working on his music, something which is going very well as he's been signed to a dance imprint of Warner music, and his new track, You, has been played by Radio 1. 'I'm really psyched,' he says. 'It's a huge step up. Music is a very long, rocky road, but something I love and want to do forever.' Sophie is also busy, with projects lined-up (she teases something about an announcement with Geordie Shore's Chloe Ferry, who she met on CGD) and TV panel show appearances. 'I'm enjoy doing things out outside of Chelsea, but Chelsea will always be my home,' she says. 'So yeah, I will always go back to that in some sort of way.'
